I’ll be honest, the wine and the view were both amazing, but I was very tired from my nap in the car. Riding from Sonoma back to Napa is no easy feat, especially if you are prone to feeling a little queasy being in the car for a little too long with lots of twists and turns along the way.

The extensive snack board waiting at our table at phelps helped revive me.  It was filled with dried fruits and cheeses, as well as some delicious rice cracker mix and some sourdough bread. What I loved about this experience was their use of the snack board when trying different wines. They had us try one red wine, for example, and then taste it again after having some cheese and bread which completely changed the flavor of the wine. This  was a very educational experience for new wine drinkers as well because it goes to show that pairing wine with certain foods or even whole meals can make a difference to how the wine tastes. And same for the other way around; the food could taste totally different depending on the wine as well. They go hand in hand like yin and yang.

My all time favorite wine we tried here was the Delice dessert wine at the end. I’ve never had a dessert wine before and I believe I don’t need to try anymore after this one. It was beautifully sweet without being in your face and was very light. If you can get your hands on some, STOCK UP!
